Klaus Hinteregger (von Fadin’ to Whiteout)
Singer/Songwriter
Let music own your heart and soul!

BIO
… a constant voyage
Boxer John was born in a harbour town on England’s south coast, son of a Spanish sailor and a local English woman. He was a restless child, and an even more restless teenager, small town life leaving him feeling confined and restricted. While to an outside observer his early years were quite normal, inside he was anxious. He burned to break out, and amidst the turbulence the only constant in Boxer John’s life was music. Almost as soon as he could speak he had begun to create song lyrics. As he matured into a man his muse matured with him, and by his late teens the lyrical urge had begun to boil and steam and push against his soul, demanding to be released into music. In 1995 he bought his first guitar for £20 at a pawn shop in London and immediately began to teach himself to play. He studied obsessively and progressed quickly and learned the instrument by ear and by feel. He found in the guitar not the spine of his muse but its limbs, and soon his guitar had become a useful tool to help convey his songs and lyrics out into the world. After only a few months he took his music out onstage, playing his first gig in the summer of 1995 to the enthusiastic audience of a small southern county club. The thrill of performance was addictive, and soon Boxer John had begun playing pubs and clubs across the UK.

He quickly established a reputation as a gritty yet inspired troubadour, a musical labourer willing to travel to remote locations across the country to play small gigs, preferring to pay his dues to the five or six fans at the bar than to dream idly of big-label record contracts.

While his nights were spent rambling across Britain, in the daytime he studied, and in a few years he had graduated from an old-fashioned English city university with a degree in English Literature. His degree completed, he began to hunger for travel.

He departed for the continent, seeking the same inspiration as those bold writers and musicians who had done so before, and for most of the next decade he lived a nomadic existence, consorting with other wanderers and adding Norway, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, and Germany to the list of countries he had called home.

By late 2004, following a period of depression and withdrawal that had forced Boxer John into reclusion and solitude, he re-emerged determined to focus more intently than ever on his music. He settled in Vienna, Austria, a vibrant modern city at the crossroads of central Europe, a paradoxical mix of the old and the new bursting with the racial tension and cultural potential of the newly-expanding European Union. As Boxer John took in his new surroundings he decided that the time had come for his assault on the music industry.

Now, based in Vienna, Boxer John plays in venues large and small across the region, and is slowly establishing himself as one of the most unique and inspiring musicians in Central Europe.

Boxer John. Modern Troubadour. Independent Alternative Folksinger. Music of many influences, lyrics sculpted from the clay of a life lived deep and raw. He is, first and foremost , just as in his childhood, a songwriter and a lyricist, his guitar functioning as his first musical tool after his voice. To this he sometimes adds the wail of a harmonica, giving depth and texture to his songs, as well as the collaboration of other artists across the musical spectrum.

Boxer John is something of a wandering minstrel, a messenger for something he follows and feels but cannot necessarily define or control. He is the next in the line of what has become a dying breed in the music industry, the true singer-songwriter poet, the court jester and traveller without a destination, the lone soldier who tramps, guitar slung over his shoulder, down a mysterious road he does not understand but simply must travel.
